A couple weekends back I had the pleasure of attending The Unique Camp, and amazing event that is the brain child of the lovely Mr. Sonja Rasula of Unique LA fame. To sum it up Camp was a 4-day getaway up into the Big Bear mountains where all attendees lived together in cabins (just like childhood summer camp) and participated in activities both day and night.

But this wasn’t just any little camp vacation – it was a conference that focused on those in the creative industry who are entrepreneurs and dreamers – and was geared to helping us focus on our business goals. There was a combination of workshops that were business related and others that were creative and fun. Examples: Turning Social Media into Sales, Legal 101 for Creative Entrepreneurs, Crafting Cocktails, Stenciling Art, and so much more. In our spare time we had traditional camp activities – horse back riding, swimming, crafts, archery, rope courses and photobooths! Can you believe all this awesomeness?

So I spent 4 days without my cell phone (yes they took ALL our cell phones away), eating in a cafeteria, listening to inspiring keynote speakers and singing our cabin chant. We enjoyed a bonfires, smores and whiskey evening, had a pajama movie party and ended the event with a serious dance party. I wish “business” could always be this fun.

Lastly, I have to note that as a designer myself, I was so thoroughly impressed with the event’s branding. Every small detail was branded – and the designer responsible for the artwork has some clean, tight style. Loved it!

And a big thank you to the plethora of sponsors who gave out some serious swag! Thanks Martha Stewart Crafts, Poler Stuff, Smilebooth, Kind, Juniper Ridge, CoolHaus, MailChimp, Boxed Water, SmugMug, Chronicle Books, Chipotle, Blue Bottle Coffee, Lululemon Athletica, Word notebooks, Honest Tea, Luna bars, Synergy Drinks, Soma and Joia!

I highly recommend this event and give it the 5 star review. I’ll be there again next year and I hope to bring even more friends along with me. Reserve the date now: May 28-31, 2015.
